Eric began working for the Flathead Lake Biological Station in 1999 as the maintenance worker. He was promoted in 2001 to Resident Caretaker. In 2014, he was again promoted to Maintenance Supervisor. Eric and his family are full-time residents at the Station and his responsibilities range from maintaining and improving the buildings, grounds, vehicles, boats and mechanical equipment to the operation of the facility's water system and Wastewater Treatment Plant. He works to keep the Station's forest as close to its natural state as possible by thinning trees and brush and controlling nonendemic plant and animal species. Eric also provides FLBS and the surrounding community with fire protection as a volunteer fireman. In addition, he works with staff, faculty, and students to provide logistical and technical support for research projects. Personal interests include hunting, hiking, backpacking, whitewater canoeing, telemark and cross-country skiing, rock climbing, and his children.

  • Class 2C Licensed Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, 2000, Montana Department of Environmental Quality
  • Certified Regulatory Weed Pesticide Applicator, 2003, Montana Department of Agriculture
  • 9 years adobe and frame remodeling with experience in construction, plumbing, electrical, finish carpentry, and landscaping
  • Intern with Lee Wilson and Associates, an environmental consulting firm
