I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Church Lab. I am broadly interested in how microorganisms are adapted to extreme environmental conditions. At FLBS, I explore how nitrogen and phosphorus availability impact the physiology and distributions of microorganisms in freshwater ecosystems. This includes using model organisms (Pseudomonas, Chlamydomonas) to understand the impacts of nutrient resource ratios on physiology and linking microorganism distributions with their biogeochemical cycles in Flathead Lake using the Flathead Monitoring Program time series. My work also takes me into the deepest depths of the sea - hadal trenches - to understand how organisms are adapted to high hydrostatic pressures and low temperatures.
