Open AIR Montana, the Bigfork Art & Cultural Center (BACC), and the University of Montana's Flathead Lake Biological Station have come together for Scene + Unseen, a new and unique art exhibition opening Friday, August 13 at the BACC in Bigfork, Montana!
From the macro to the micro, pen to brushstroke, this art show is your opportunity to discover new insights into our world through the eyes of artists and scientists inspired by the research happening at FLBS! The exhibition will feature previous and current FLBS Open AIR Artists-in-Residence, as well as local professional and novice artists who participated in last summer’s Plein Air Art Sessions at the Bio Station, and historical illustrations created by the FLBS students and scientists who conducted research at the Bio Station back in the early 1900s.
With visual artworks in watercolor, oil, fabric, graphite drawings, pastels—as well as moving-image, sound, and written works—we invite you to dive into the diverse and creative perspectives these artists have cultivated to help us reexamine the fascinating inner and unseen workings of Flathead Lake and its watershed. Scene + Unseen will open at 11am on August 13, with an Opening Reception from 5:30-7 pm. Exhibit hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm through September 25.
