Introducing Stephanie Hummel: The New Education Coordinator at FLBS
Born and raised in Canton, Ohio, Stephanie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Geology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and her Master of Environment and Natural Resources degree at The Ohio State University. During her time at Case Western, she conducted research on sediment resuspension in Lake Erie and its impacts on phosphorus flux to the ecosystem. This research was published in the Journal of Great Lakes Research in 2016. In 2016, Stephanie moved out to Northwestern Montana to work as an Interpretive Park Ranger at Glacier National Park. While at Glacier she worked extensively with local students, leading them on field trips and coordinated the park’s distance learning program, connecting virtually with thousands of students across North America. She has also worked as a ranger at Rocky Mountain National Park and Zion National Park.
In her free time, Stephanie enjoys running, hiking, gardening in the Columbia Falls Community Garden, backpacking, and cross country skiing.
