Graduate Student - Systems Ecology
Matthew joined the Flathead Lake Biological Station in May 2023 as an M.S. student in Systems Ecology under the guidance of Dr. Bob Hall. His interest in aquatic ecology began in 2021 while working as a lab technician during his undergraduate studies at the University of Montana. This experience led him to secure funding for a research project focused on nitrogen and phosphorus limitation of photoautotrophic communities.
Since graduating from the University of Montana in 2023, Matthew has continued to explore his interest in Ecosystem Ecology. His current work involves coupling sensor deployment with the experimental manipulation of nitrogen and phosphorus, aiming to advance the understanding of nutrient dynamics in the Clark Fork River.
Outside the lab, Matthew enjoys fly-fishing, backpacking, weight training, and is always on the lookout for a good book.
