FLBS is an ideal location for group conferences and academic retreats. We offer dining, meeting, and lodging facilities on the shore of Flathead Lake with views of Yellow Bay, Wild Horse Island, and the Mission and Whitefish Mountains.

Lodging at FLBS

FLBS welcomes visitors to the station campus. However, overnight lodging is reserved for educational or academic visitors and is unavailable for recreational purposes. FLBS onsite lodging capacity can accommodate up to 90 guests in the spring, summer and fall; and up to 20 guests in the winter.

Where should I park when I arrive?

FLBS provides visitor parking to either side of the main drive before arriving at the Elrod Building.  Handicapped parking is available north of the Elrod Building main door.  Additional parking is available to the east of the Elrod Building main door and the employee parking lot.

Are pets allowed at FLBS?

No pets are allowed at FLBS. Service animal (SA) and emotional support animal (ESA) requests may be allowed if approved in advance with the UM Disability Services office, (406) 243-2243.

Is there a charge for canceling or rescheduling my reservation?

For reservations with an arrival date less than 30 days away, a cancellation fee may apply. Contact us for more information. 

I plan to cook meals for my group. Are plates and utensils provided?

Please bring your own recyclable plates, utensils, and cups as we do not provide these.  We do offer 40-cup coffee percolators and filters, but we do not provide coffee. A medium-to-coarse ground coffee is appropriate for these coffee makers.

Note that groups of 10+ must reserve kitchen facilities as part of their group reservation in order to prepare food for the group. 

Who do I contact with questions after hours?

On-call information is displayed on a whiteboard on the Elrod Building front door.

Do the cabins have electricity?

Yes, all cabins and rooms have electrical outlets and a heater, but they do not have a fan or air conditioning.

What do I need to bring for my overnight stay at FLBS?

Cabins are heated and have electrical outlets. We recommend a flashlight or head lamp, as bathroom facilities are a short walk from each cabin and trails are not lighted.

All rooms: we supply a blanket, pillow, sheets and a towel. We also have onsite washers / dryers.

For summertime stays, some guests bring fans, as we do not provide them. 

We do not supply soap, shampoo or personal toiletries.

When is check in / check out?

Check in time is generally 2 pm, unless arranged differently with FLBS.  

Check out time is 11 am.

Are visitors allowed for guests with existing reservations?

Visitors are allowed during daytime hours. Visitors staying overnight in another person's reserved room must register with the FLBS main office. Note that additional charges may apply. 

Is personal cooking allowed in FLBS rooms?

No cooking is allowed in or near FLBS lodging. Fires are also not allowed on FLBS grounds. Personal cooking is allowed in designated kitchen spaces only for groups with 10 or fewer participants.

Where can I get a key to my cabin or room?

If you are part of a conference or group, your group organizer will provide your access code.

If you are not part of a group, room information is emailed prior to arrival or available in the Elrod Building main office during business hours. Outside of normal business hours, contact us.
