As a department and research center of the University of Montana, the Flathead Lake Biological Station welcomes visitors to our campus. We are open 8am to 5pm (4:30pm during winter hours) Monday-Friday throughout the year. For those interested in finding out more about what we do, we encourage you to contact us for a guided tour of our research and educational facilities. Because of our research schedules, we encourage you to call ahead to schedule an appointment.
For more information, contact Tom Bansak, our FLBS Outreach and Development Coordinator.
In addition to guided FLBS tours, those interested in finding out more about what we do are invited to our annual open house. Occurring at the end of July or early August every year, FLBS students, professors and staff offer a variety of exhibits, posters, and presentations to share the local ecology of the Flathead valley and our research. Past years have included a live raptor exhibit (hosted by Wild Wings Recovery Center); demonstration boat trips; visits from Monte, the UM mascot; presentations by local ecologists; and science kiosks presented by FLBS researchers.
