DNA Marker Discovery and Genotyping
Summary:
"In less than half a century, molecular markers have totally changed our view of nature..."(Schlotterer, 2004, Nat Rev Gen)
Many crucial questions in conservation, ecology, and evolution require the discovery and genotyping of numerous, informative DNA markers (including markers in genes) in order to address many research questions. We are developing and applying novel molecular genetic methods using next generation sequencing to discovery and genotype markers (e.g., SNPs) in candidate adaptive gene loci, for many fish, wildlife, and insect species.
