Introducing 2022 FLBS Ted Smith Environmental Storytelling Intern Joshua Moyar

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Josh was drawn out West by the allure of wide open spaces and unique wildlife he couldn’t find at home (aside from pigeons and rats). He started at the University of Montana in 2019 as a wildlife biology major, but is now through his third year as a journalism and English double major, playing to his strengths in reading and writing rather than hard science and lab work. Nevertheless, science and nature more often than not sneak their way into the articles Josh writes and the stories he tells. This summer, Josh is looking forward to sharing his passion for conservation with a wider audience through storytelling. Josh plans to graduate from UM in 2024 with a master’s degree in environmental journalism.
