From the swampy marshlands of Gainesville, Florida, Jeff enjoyed being a steward of the sunshine state’s many diverse ecosystems, often joining local beach and river clean-ups. These experiences fostered a deep passion and respect for wildlife and nature, inspiring Jeff to forge a career out west to explore and protect America’s last wild places. As a Development Specialist for Grand Area Mentoring in Moab, Utah, he helped develop a new community-based mentoring program and forged new partnerships with local stakeholders. Jeff also worked with backcountry trail crews to restore damaged habitat in Utah’s red-rock desert wilderness.

His passion for wild places and conservation inspired Jeff to relocate to Montana to work with the Glacier National Park Conservancy, specializing in foundation relationships and grant writing. His role at the Glacier Conservancy led him to a job with the Yaak Valley Forest Council as Grant and Development Manager and later as Interim Executive Director and Director of Development.

Jeff’s deep passion for watershed restoration, monitoring, and research in Montana led him to join the Flathead Lake Bio Station team as Director of Development in early July. Jeff brings frontline fundraising experience for Montana environmental non-profits and a deep commitment to issues of environmental education, conservation, and protecting the pristine and beautiful waterways of the Flathead River watershed and Flathead Lake. Jeff is a graduate of Florida State University and, in his free time, enjoys soaking up the outdoors with his wife and young son.
